Renovation and new construction meet patient needs

Sanford Health continues to meet the growing and unique needs of the communities it serves. On Tuesday, October 30, 2012, Sanford Health broke ground on a renovation and new facility in Canton. The $6.5 million dollar project is taking place at Sanford Canton-Inwood at 440 N. Hiawatha Drive.

“When Sanford Health purchased the hospital that serves the people of Canton, Inwood and surrounding areas, we made a promise to do what we could to meet the specific needs of the patients here,” says Eric Hilmoe, Vice President at Sanford Health Network. “Today we are proud to deliver on that promise. As the Canton and Inwood communities continue to grow. So do we. Together.”

The plans for the renovation and construction offer a variety of benefits to patients:

  • Increased access to outpatient and same-day services
  • Centralized scheduling and registration
  • Improved lab services
  • Ease of movement around campus
  • Larger physical therapy and rehab service areas

The entire project is designed with the patient and their family in mind with a focus on convenience and privacy.

“We are especially thankful to the generous donation from the Canton-Inwood Area Health Foundation,” says Hilmoe. “Because of their generosity we will be able to improve patient care to the people we serve.

The project renovates 17,630 square feet of current space, it finishes updates on 8, 000 square feet of existing space and adds approximately 11,000 square feet of new construction. It is scheduled to be complete in July 2014.
